I have an ancient tape labeled "Road Songs" in a box of cassette tapes.
Hasn't been played in an MG in ages as the only MG I have ever owned that had
a cassette deck is the '73 GT that is in the garage now undergoing body
restoration and that hasn't been on the road since 1984. Threw the tape in
the boom box in the garage and jotted down the titles and artists. It still
holds up well today.
Side One -
Highway Star - Deep Purple
Drivin' Sister - Mott the Hoople
I'm In Love With My Car - Queen
Cars And Girls - The Dictators
Running On Empty - Jackson Browne
Drive My Car - The Beatles
L.A. Freeway - Jerry Jeff Walker
Life On The Road - The Kinks
Going Mobile - The Who
Pack It Up - The Pretenders
Side Two -
Running On Down The Road - The New York Rock Ensemble
Doncha Stop - The Cars
Built For Speed - Stray Cats
Eight Days On The Road - Foghat
Crossroads - Cream
Radar Love - Golden Earring
Truckin' - Grateful Dead
Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
Didn't have room on a C90 tape for stuff like:
Willin' - Little Feat
Ol' 55 - The Eagles
Take It Easy - The Eagles
Fun Fun Fun - The Beach Boys
California Sun - The Dictators version
Yes, the Four Cylinder Song is one of the great tunes to listen to in your MG
(MGC and GT V8 owners - please excuse this reference to the majority of MGs
out there), but there are a lot of other tunes like these that complement the
mood as well.
