Dear Netters:
I hope to use the combined wisdom of the net to solve my latest MG
problem.
I finally replaced the fender of my GT that my missus crunched. I want to
go get it painted, but that means I have to start it etc.
The car started immediately and idled fine for several minutes. Then the
engine started to stumble, more and more, then quit. I tried to stave off
the quitting by depressing the accelerator, which helped a little however
I could not get the car restarted. Since it was late in the day, I again
disconnected the battery and resolved to deal with this another day. Well,
today is another day.
Before I left, I checked the plugs for fouling or flooding. They were just
right, so flooding or oil fouling wasn't at fault AFAIK.
I intend to check the fuel lines to the carbs and see if there is fuel
geting there for starters. If there is a block in the lines, then I will
check back along the lines to the tank etc.
However, if it is not the fuel lines, I suppose I will have to check the
ignition system.
I didn't drive the car for about 4 months. I put some Stabil fuel
stabilizer in the gas but I don't know if it was enough.
Could the fuel have gone so bad in this time as to not burn?
