Joe Short followed Bill's post with some of the rationale for aluminum
5-port heads. The manufacturer also claims better porting in the standard
head. What is the overall value? Well, SVRA regs require anyone using the
alum. 5-port head to carry an additional "25 # in the engine compartment
forward of the head" to compensate. Anyone have any real evidence of a
performance difference, like lower e.t. on a particular track?
FYI, the cross-flow alum. head requires a re-classification to a faster race
group in SVRA.
