Let's translate that into US dollars for comparison, then... US dollar
equivalents and what that would buy in the US (IMHO -- you folks trying
to recoup your investments may not agree)...
>...again...pay attention to the exchange rates
>1 $ AUS = roughly $0.65USD
>If you want to compare prices, the following is Eric's guide to MGB

>$0 - $5,000 rust bucket (probably will not run)
US $0 - 3250 this should buy an OK runner, not a show car but not
anything to be ashamed of -- will doubtless need some work
>$5,000 - $9,999 bad body - motor may not be OK (more $$$ better motor)
US $3250 - 6500 This would get a nice car, possibly from a dealer
showroom (for example a 67 steel wheel roadster with 10K miles since
resto, at the upper end)
>$10,000 - $12,999 probably good daily driver (no show pony) w/maint
US $6500 - 8500 At the top range this is a show winner, I hope, since
I've never seen a B this expensive
>$13,000 - $16,999 higher end will have good mech. AND nice paint
US $8500 - 11,500 Getting ridiculous for a B -- I may have seen it
asked but don't know if I've seen it paid
>$17,000 - concourse entry... winner closer to $20,000 and up
$11,500 + Not a chance

It looks to me as if the shipping would pay for itself for Aussies to
import cars from the US... fortunately, there's that "wrong side of the
road" issue again.
