Erik -
Well I'm not quite qualified to answer this - but if I'm outrageously
wrong, perhaps somebody more knowlegable than I will save you from my
50%-wisdom. The HS4s I put on my '76 have two ports front and two ports
back. The ports facing toward the air cleaners are not fuel ports but
vents plumbed a "T" and hence off to the charcoal canister. The other two
are fuel ports. On mine, I had to rig a "T" in the fuel line to feed both
carb's. Could it be that the front carb's with three ports are simply
designed to eliminate the "T" I had to rig? In other words, the ports are
"vent" , "fuel in", and "fuel out" to the rear carb. The rear carb's two
are "fuel in" and "vent".
' Just a guess. Let us know how you come out on this.
