Hello James and the list. It has been a long time since I have posted here
due to my schedule for work and study for my MCSE. (yes Dan Ray I owe u
allot of emails!)
I did this conversion on my 70 B about 4 years ago. I had the fold down and
I wanted to convert to the stow away frame. I was able to use my old top but
there is a trick. The chrome plated slots fit right where the old frame
would attach. To use the old top. ( mine was a 71-80 zipper rear window that
worked fine on my 70) I had to trim down the pegs on the stow away top frame
that slide into the chrome slots by about 1/2 inch. This work perfect and
the fit is great. I can use the newer style tops and I have had no problems.
I have some pictures posted on the web if you are interested on how this
actually looks.
Good luck with it and all in all it is pretty easy to do. All you will need
is the frame and the chrome slots.
Good Luck...
