Ask the Judge or the court clerk if there is a diversion plan.
This allows you to divert around the court system and after a certain period
your record is cleared, as if nothing had occured.
I am an investigator for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and have
had many of my felony cases put in diversion, after they were plead down.
I am disappointed in the lack of understanding the trooper exhibted.

Subject: Club T MG Swapmeet Plus "Warning"
>
Club T MG held a British Car Swap meet last Sunday in Portland, Oregon.
It was like discovering a gold mine for those of us on a limited
restoration budget. I was able to purchase a complete dash for a 75 era
MGB for only $5.00, a complete set of front brake calipers with "like
new" pads for $10.00, luggage rack with hardware $10.00, 74 exhaust
manifold $10.00 and a like new weber DGV with intake manifold for
$100.00. If anyone needs a switch or bulb holder or gauge face that I
won't be needing, I would be glad to share my bounty gratis. If any one
could share any information on the installation of the weber on my 75 B
(did not come with instructions) I would appreciate it.
One negative note. I was on my way to the local Emission Testing
Station last Thursday when I was pulled over by the State Patrol. I
have expired Washington State plates on the car since I have been unable
to pass the emission test four times. I did have a three day trip
permit which I purchased to use to go to the test station. I had filled
it out when I purchased it but had not filled in the dates, waiting
until the day I could actually use it.
Thursday after work was bright and sunny, so I rushed home form work to
go and in my haste forget to mark out the dates. I go to court this
coming Friday. I am charged with a "gross misdemeanor" which is
punishable by up to one year in jail and a $330.00 fine.
I am guilty and have no defense other than forgetfulness, stupidity and
the childish desire to be able to drive my car. If you are in the same
situation as I am, in being unable to license your car because of DEQ or
whatever, don't take the chance of driving without a properly filled out
permit. I find it hard to believe, but after fifty three years of life
on this earth, I will probably have a criminal record for driving my
beloved MG with an improperly filled out permit.
