I have been told that hydraulic jacks made in China use an oil that is
fish based and not very good. When I bought a floor jack that was made in
China I immediately drained the fluid and replaced it (I don't remember
which brand of oil I used, but I bought it at K-mart). I can control the
speed that my jack lowers with judicious management of the valve.
