pre-load?

Are these terms british?  do they have american equivaltents?  I have
never heard of pre-load etc.
I had the fun of tempting the lucas demons tonight.
Fine weather, sun back out, take the top down, no problem, right?
I come out of my girl's house, and rain everywhere!!!!
oh, my.  We toweled everything down, and she did start off nicely, so I
think no lasting damage.  Any horror stories on this?
As soon as I get a convertible, Phoenix gets rain.
