Crack of Doom

Does anyone have good tricks for welding up the MGB COD?  I have a Mk 1 B,
and the area of the crack, about even with the rear of the vent wing, seems
a little inaccessable because of the inner door skin.  I was thinking of
welding in another piece of sheet metal behind the crack as a stiffener,
and am trying to imaging how I can do that.  Clamps?  Rosette welds through
the outside of the door?  ?????
