  Hay guys 'n dolls,  lots of taxis are owned by "owner operators." 
They get shut off at nite.  Not on'y 'dat, I drove a cab in a fairly
large city during a lean time in my younger days.  The company's cars
weren't on the go ALL the time.  There's a slack period between when the
bars close and people go to work inna morning!
