I used 3M aerosol spray contact cement. It worked great.

We're in the process of installing new carpets in our '69 BGT. We have
the old ones out and are cleaning off the old glue residue.
Now the question is what do we use for glue on the new carpets? Any good
stuff? Any *bad* stuff?
