41288 is the specced distributor for the HC 18V 581, 582 and 583, Aug 71 to
Aug or Nov 73. 13 degrees at 600 rpm strobe. 3 degrees additional
centrifugal advance at 600rpm and 20 at 2200. 0 to 20 degrees vacuum
advance at 5 to 13 Hg.
41491 is specced for HC 18V672Z and 18V673Z, Aug 72 to Sep 74, UK figures
are 14 degrees at 600, no curve info. North America figures are 11 degrees
strobe at 1500rpm. 16 degrees additional centrifugal advance at 2000rpm and
39 at 4800. 0 to 10 degrees vacuum advance at 10 to 15 Hg.
18GK distibutor was 40897 (HC), 14 degrees at 600 rpm strobe, 4 degrees
additional centrifugal advance at 600 rpm up to 20 at 2200. 0 to 20 degrees
vacuum advance at 5 to 13 Hg.
LC engines are significantly different.
Generallly the later year the more the performance was strangled by regs, so
the earlier the spec the better.
