I'm replacing the Oil cooler in my Car as I recently spun a bearing and
bits went everywhere in the motor, simply don't want to take the chance
refitting the old cooler. Now - is it advantageous to fit a
Thermostatically controlled Bypass? ie The bypass does not allow oil
into the cooler until the oil has reached a certain temperature.
Therefore allowing the motor to build up to temp quicker, as it has less
oil to heat in a smaller area.
Can someone say if this is a worthwhile addition (to prolong engine
life) or is it just hype?
