You are so right about the economics of restoration. The best way to acquire a mint condition concours classic car is to buy it from an owner who's invested 50% more than the car is worth. That is about the ratio of investment to FMV of my 68 MGCGT. Of course I couldn't sell my dog or my children for what I have invested in them, but like my MG, the pleasure exceeds the cost.
