Do yourself and your family a favor & take a course like the Skip Barber
High Performance School. There are many driving schools that have similar
courses. Check the classified pages of Auto Week for some. It's
inexpensive life insurance.
You'll learn exactly what to do to avoid such crunches.
After you do that, think about buying a BMW (2002's are lots of fun. In
fact, they feel a lot like tall MG's with tops.) so you can join the BMW CCA
& attend their driving schools. They are a great value & will teach you how
to handle performance cars safely.
