Tow bar or tow dolly for 2500 mile tow?

This may be a dumb question, but I am going to have to tow my MGB on a 2500
mile trip soon and need to either rent a 2 wheel dolly or use/make a tow bar.
Ideally a trailer would probably be best but I know that trailers weigh a lot
more. I'll be towing the car behind my new V8 Dakota, thank you, with tow
package etc!!!

Is it possible to use a tow bar for this distance or should I rent a dolly
somewhere?  Advice gladly accepted and very much appreciated!!
