Hello all...
So, last may I picked up a 1974 MG Midget. Overall it is in pretty
good condition. In other words it runs (I have driven it over 7,000
miles) the body is in fair condition and I think that I have had more
fun with this car than I have any right to..:)
The car is actually a 73 even though the title says it is a 74 (crome
bumpers, 1275cc, dual su's) and this matches the number on the title. My
question is this what is the best way to find out if this car is ready
for a cross-country drive and is there a definitive book that I can use
to rebuild it? I live in upstate New York. Yes it is cold wet and
Snowy. Yes I have the MG in a garage...waiting for that January thaw.
I really want to drive this car cross country but in the area I live I
know of no garages with experience with these cars...some places will
not even touch it.
So it has come down to me...scary thought. I am going to drive it
cross country. And I do want to restore it. And no I do not have a
small fortune to spend. So at 28 yrs I am experiencing my second
childhood through my car. Any thoughts or Ideas would be apreciated.
thanks,
Steve
