I still wouldn't rule out petrol vapour out in the fuel line. The car
doesn't suffer from vapour lock on the the road because of the fuel not
having the time to warm up in the line. In a misguided attempt to improve
things, I mounted a big 75 ml filter in the line near the upper firewall
area below the bonnet.
After stopping the car, you could actually see the fuel form bubbles and the
bowl "emptying". The car would hesitate only shortly after starting up.
Wrapping aluminium foil round the black rubber line improved the situation.
I exchanged the filter for a 25 ml type, used braided line and mounted it
lower than before. Now the filter always stays partly filled. The rest may
very well be air, as perhaps most of my opinions!
BTW MG ratio = 0.76
