| Yes. The first VW was made in 1935 by Ferdinand Porsche after Hitler "requested" a car for the masses. The engine was basically the same. Porsche designed the first Porsches during the same period -- sort of as "upscale" versions of the Bug for the "above the masses" folks I guess.
