<<My choice of carb was partly based on my experience running a DGV on a 2

socially unacceptable things turning 7500 RPM in a relatively lightweight

Now you have reminded me of yet another automotive episode in my life -
English Fords. I had a Mk3 Cortina (don't know if they were ever sold in t=
he
US; always kind of liked the body style. We only got 1972 cars and they
stopped em after that).
I rebuilt the engine to similar spec as your Pinto (same engine) and start=
ed
with the stock carb, went to a Holley 390 4bbl, and ended up =97 you guess=
ed it-
with HS6 SUs, the best and most flexible set-up of all, though getting the=
m in
around the brake booster was a real pain.
Still have a crankshaft in the garage if anyone needs one =97 they never s=
eemed
to break (well, except for SWMBOs car, a mustard yellow one, that holed a
piston when we were on the way to a long weekend in which she was supposed=
to
type up my master's thesis. If it had blown _after_ we had done the grocer=
y
shopping, I would never have discovered just how creative one can be with
Kraft dinner......)
