I bought a new Marina TC in England in 1971..It had some sort of
a1800cctwin SU carbed engine.The damn thing ran to 6000rpm in a heart
beat(13in wheels with tractor gearing?).It also topped out at a scary 116
mph.That was at 6300rpm. >>
The North American model (well, Canadian anyway =97 did you get them in th=

States?) had normally one carb and the awkward handling that you note. We =
did
have a guy hillclimb one that he had converted to twin carb and didn't do =
too
badly. We also had the anemic 1300 version.
As you also noted, they had the worst of the Triumph parts bin =97 suspens=
ion,
hubs, and (weak) rear end. reminded me on another car of which I was fond =
=97
the Riley 1.5, which had the B series running gear, and A series rear end =
=97
result, many snapped axles.
Sounds like your engine was particularly good!
