Two mistakes I'e seen people make when using Easy-Out type extractors: 1) They drill all the way through the broken screw/bolt/stud. The extractor needs something to bottom against after it takes a bite. Otherwise it will continue to screw down into the broken part, expanding it and locking it tighter in the threads. 2) They use too small an extractor for the job and break the extractor off.
