I've used a product called Clay Magic that works great on tree sap, over spray 
or
anything on the surface of the paint. It is actually clay that you rub on the
surface of the paint with a special lubricant. As weird as it sounds it is quite
easy to use and leaves the paint very smooth to the touch. Mequires makes a
similar product. I think most auto parts chains handle it.
