Things start to Look Better, I hope.
As most of you have forgotten :-), I bought a 70' GT, that I thought
was in 'very good condition'
The bottom of the engine was totally gone. The engine was bought as:
'reconditioned & balanced & blueprinted &&&' from a company in UK,
a few years ago ( in 94, I think) and had max. 20K Km ( ca 12K miles)
on it, when I bought the car.
Turns out that the, I believe this is the right name:, internal oilways?
in the engine was NOT cleaned, and totally clogged??? by gunk??
The mechanic that has helped me ( He works, I write checks :-( )
says that this may be the reason for the breakdown.
Rebore needed, (bits of piston rings fell out when the engine was
taken apart) And the bearings for the crankshaft was gone + + +
(££££)
Anyway:
Some friends of mine are going to England, Cambridge area.
Since I am a member of mgownersclub, I was thinking of buying a new
exhaust system from them, and have my friends pick it up, and take it
back to Norway. ( some money back from income tax !!!!! :-))))
Since I will install a weber, I plan to buy a 'sport' exhaust, (with
manifold) to make the car breathe a bit better.
On my present system, the front silencer is removed. A bit noisy, but
acceptable. ( Deep beautiful ehh... sexy sound really)
I was thinking of a big bore system, but advised not to, since it will
be
no noicy on a road car.
I have been adviced not to use the stainless steel system, since the
sound
from them are a bit 'metallic'
That leaves the two sports systems the club sells, (have forgotten to
write
down the parts no. for two days now, have the parts catalogue at home )
Anybody with some experience out there . Wich should I use, will it help
bring out those extra horses.
