Hello All
my 1970 MGBGT has developed the following problem ..
when started from cold with full choke the engine runs fine - however once it
gets up to
operating temp and i ease off the choke there is a loss of power generally and
especially at low revs - on pulling away at a junction if i press the
accelerator slowly
the revs actually drop - i can only get sufficient power to pull away by
'blipping' the
throttle a few times - this can be temporarily cured by giving it full choke
but this soon
produces smoke from the exhaust which i assume is unburnt fuel
i have replaced the plugs, points, dist cap, HT leads and thermostat and the
ignition
timing is ok - the carb pistons are moving freely and there is oil in the
dampers
any advice appreciated
David
