The Austin Healey sprite was never intended to be in the same "class" as
the big Healeys like the 3000 so hence the pricing as new and used was
always below. The most popular sprite was the very unique looking bugeye
or frogeye. They are very collectible now (and have been for years. I
have seen several sell for the 5-7K range in the Southern USA. The later
AH Sprite (the square body with many similarities to the MG Midget) has
suffered some of the same lackluster enthusiam as the Midget. But most
of the lack of enthusiasm in my opinion is that it is so small in size.
Many Americans can barely get in them!
But nevertheless, because the Sprite/Midget was overlooked for so many
years, they are become very scarce and undoubtedly will rise in value
over the years. I think they are a good value now. Won't get an cheaper
and will surely appreciate steadily as do most convertible sports cars.
