Eric, it appears you may have a leaky master cylinder (clutch of course!).
I had the same symptoms on both a Volvo and an early model B. Rebuilding
the master cylinder did the trick in both cases. It usually is a good idea
to rebuild the slave cylinder at the same time as their wear rates should
be similar and after the rebuild, the master cylinder will be much stronger
than the slave cylinder.
