starter solenoid

Hello everyone!

I have a dumb question.  Would a old ford starter solenoid work on a 71 MG
Midget? It looks like they would do the same job. They both mount to the
firewall. But I'm not an automotive  mechanic. Also I don't know much about
electrical systems on MG's. I hope this question don't flame anyone.
