Looking over the electrical diagram, all the gauges are connected via the
voltage stabilizer (there have been a number of recent posts on its location
[behind the tach and next to the hood release]). It is connected to the
gauges via a Light Green/Green wire (to Fuel Gauge then Temp Gauge) and a
Green wire (to Tach then Oil Gauge). So a short on these wires or faulty
stabilizer could cause a problem like you describe.
