Gage lights

I have a question.

I have been reading about the brighter light bulbs from Radio Shack that can
be used in our guages,  So I bought some.

Now the question.

Do you have to remove the guages to replace the blubs?  As I have stated in
earlier posts I have large hands that do not fit behind dash boards very
well.  Would It help to drop the stearing column?
