It's finally dawned on me how I can meet some of my fellow list members and
get some exposure to how other people are treating their A's. I'm in a
position to offer some lucky people (as if driving an MGA - the pinnacle of
automotive styling - weren't luck enough) a night out at a concert in exchange
for getting their gem out onto the road.
For the next several months, I will be traveling around the country as monitor
engineer and guitar technician for the band Kansas (Carry On My Wayward Son,
Dust In The Wind, etc.). This type of work gets me to quite a few cities
scattered around the US, but doesn't afford a lot of time for local
sightseeing. I think I've hit on a way to get some of the attractions to come
to me.
If there are any other dinosaurs out there who might enjoy a night out
listening to a (IMHO) pretty good band, I make the following offer:
The first list member (as evidenced by the ceremonial display of the official
list hat) to contact me backstage on the afternoon of any scheduled Kansas
concert and show me the MGA he or she drove to the venue will receive two
backstage/VIP passes to that evening's show as well as preferred/secured
parking in the backstage area.
I humbly apologise to all non-A owners that I can't extend this offer to all
of you. Actually there are two reasons:
1) I own an A
2) There are just too many of you.
I would certainly be happy to meet you, however, and might be able to come up
with an after-show backstage pass or two.
We'll be in Louisville, KY and Granger, IN this weekend. Given the short lead
time, I'll waive the List Hat requirement for now. I look forward to meeting
some of you out there.
