Dan - also have a look at the U bolts that hold the rear end to the spring -
they can often stretch or become loose with much the same symptoms. More
common than spring bush wear, in my experience.

<<I have just purchased a '74 chrome-bumper MGB for my son's first
car. I noticed when driving it home from
where I bought it from that the rear end seemed to move from
side-to-side every time I shifted or accelerated/deaccelerated.
I consulted the trusty Moss Motors catalog and determined the
problem is likely worn out bushings in the rear springs.
Moss sells regular rubber replacements and something they call Nylatron,
which is a composite of some sort. I also saw on the
mgcars.org.uk page that there are also urethane replacements available.
I've used urethane on my VW stuff with great success.
Who sells the urethane bushings?
