Hood Release

The hood release on my '66 B doesn't work at all so I am now replacing it (or
trying to).  Anyhow, I can't get my old cord and pull knob off.  The cable was
rusted and no good so I just cut it off, but I can't get the knob off.
There's a bolt to unscrew on the knob under the dash but it doesn't do
anything.  Anybody had similar problems or know an easy way to do it?
