First, does anyone have George Merriweather's <sp> e-mail address?
Next, Miss Molly (the '79 Midget) is experiencing what feels like a
clutch that needs bled: I've replaced the master cylinder recently and
I'm certain it's good, but the slave cylinder was rebuilt only last year.
While driving the pedal 'creeps down' so that it's only taking about an
inch of travel to egage/disengage; the pedal can then be pumped a few
times at it returns to normal. After setting overnight, the pedal is
fine, but the problem returns within a few shifts. I couldn't find any
evidence of fluid leaks near the slave cylinder, but I did notice that
the mounting housing (the clamp the slave slides into) is cracked.
Re-bleed or just buy a new slave cylinder?
Finally, can anyone explain to me in dummy-proof English how to re-align
the steering column on my Midget? I noticed yesterday that the thing
travels in an oval at the firewall, and that the bushing on the column is
a good half-inch away from the firewall. How is this supposed to be set
up? What should I look for, and should I consider a small sacrifice to
MOWOG?
Thanks!
Rich
