My 74 B has never idled smoothly at low RPMs, even when new. The smog
stuff makes that pretty much impossible. If it is idling really rough
check your ignition system.
Re: another similar question, I find 1100 to 1200 rpm to be the ideal
idle speed. Anything below that and the car seems hesitant. You
probably won't pass a smog check at higher RPMs, though, so beware.
