A friend of mine has a 1953 Riley RMF which was sitting in his basement
being wasted!!
About 6 months ago - after i cajoled him for his inattention after a lot
of false starts (and a couple of blown feeze plugs)we got it running for
the first time since 1975/6 and have been tweaking it ever since to get
it roadworthy... well its pretty close now, everything is working and ive
started to work on the interior. The leather is extremely dry - over the
past three days it has sucked in almost two quarts of Hirschs leather
rejuvenator but seems at last to be "full" hehe
Ive never worked with leather this old and brittle before - the
rejuvenator has certainly done its job and its now becoming much more
supple than it was but is very dull in places -
What ideas do you all have for the best type of leather polish to use on
it? - i have some proprierary Mothers stuff which works fine on my jeep
but i think i need something more potent for this job, something that
will also sink into the hide
All ideas appreciated - i know its not an MG - but its a cousin and if we
get it going it will be at MG shows this year!! haha
BTW apart from some minor rubber items and a few bulbs we have not
replaced a single part on this car so far - everything was rebuildable!!
- they dont make em....etc.etc.
