That's one way. Another would be to remove the drain plug at the bottom of
the shock, catch the valve as it pops out, note which way round it goes, let
the oil drain out, bounce the car up and down a few times to make sure all
the oil is out. Then replace the valve, replace the plug, add fresh oil.
