Nice that you have the original 8 track. As some one who mostly uses his
British cars to drive home to where my real stereo system lives (worth more
than any one or maybe two of my LBCs), I don't usually bother with much in the
way of car stereo. Don't even have a radio in the MGC (couldn't hear it
anyway).
One mod that works well in my Jensens might be worth passing on though. Take a
period 8 track deck and carefully cut the front 3/4" or so off, including the
controls, mounting flange and tape door. Then mount it in the dash on a hinge,
with a magnetic catch at the top of the deck, so that it swings down. Now
install a modern stereo deck inside and behind the fake 8 track front plate.
The advantage is that no one in their right mind will steal an 8 track, and it
looks very period and stock, while concealing the up to date deck behind it.
