Hi David:
If you have been running a good quality H/D oil in your engine, the
synthetic should offer no problem. Synthetic oil has a detergent additive
package just like mineral oil. The main difference is the base oil. All of
my cars had similar mileage as yours, and I switched over with no ill effects.
I would not put synthetic oil in a new engine. I would get it well broken
in first. Synthetic oil is such a good lubricant, you risk not having the
rings seating. Break it in for a couple of thousand miles on a good quality
HD detergent oil. Then switch.
