I don't know what happened to my reply - sent earlier this evening - but I
have to jump in again and say this isn't so! Yes, the cam does engage both
drive spindles but it is possible to change the cam without taking off the
oil pan and the oil pump. We did it today, in my shop, on an 18V engine, as
a matter of fact.
