As an old Rugby player, and an ex-patriot of Wales I have some
input on this subject:
The British flag, the Union Jack, is flown correctly when
the broad part of the white cross of St. Andrew is uppermost
next to the flag pole.
If, when mounted, you see that the narrow part of the white cross
is uppermost next to the flagpole, then you know that the
flag is flying upside down. (This would be a distress signal.)
By the way, of the four countries that make up what we know as
the British Isles, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland,
Wales is the ONLY country not represented in the Union Jack.
The reason for this....Wales is a Principality, and as such has its
own flag. This flag is a red dragon on a green and white background.
