Kile got it a little wrong, as others will point out.  Whitworth is a course
thread and most American Course threaded bolts and nuts will work...although
the wrenches won't.  BSF is not close to any American standard but on MGB's
that will not be a problem as you have few , if any BSF blots or nuts.  Lucas
and SU never made the transistion and continued to use the BSF thread
standard.  BSF is a fine thread.  When the Brits went to the BSF standard,
they thoughtfully used a head size that was compatible with the older
Whitworth standard so the wrenches will fit.....some wrenches are marked in
both W and BSF.....

The real answer here is to buy a real MG, pre '56, and then get the proper
wrenches!!
