Creation of MGs Newsgroup?

Subject: Creation of MGs Newsgroup?

I've been thinking of proposing an MGs usenet
group to augment the listserv we have here. This
listserv is incredibly valuable. For me,
mgs@autox.team.net is a daily ritual. However,
there may be listers for whom a usenet group is
more convenient, or those MG owners on the net
that do not know about team.net that might also
benefit from a newsgroup.

I'd like to know what people think before
proceeding, so please give me your feedback. If
list members think that an MGs usenet group would
be detrimental to the list, I absolutely won't
begin the process.

I'm hoping the cross-pollination of a listserv and
a newsgroup would be a positive thing. If anyone
has a historic perspective about what has been
done in the past, I'd like to know about that too.

Second, should I do a complete proposal for
something like rec.autos.mg, or should I short
circuit that and create an alt.mgs list? Again,
I'll do nothing without consulting this list
first.

All comments are welcome!

Cheers,

Andy
