I thought it might be timely to post a reminder that the nice Mr. Raby,
of MG World, is looking for entries to his competition to design a new
MG. We hear a lot of views expressed on this list, some supporting the
MGF, some saying it is too "jellybean" shaped for their taste, some
bemoaning the demise of the more traditional MG and others looking for
something more revolutionary.
Well, if you have an opinion (and who doesn't?) and can wield a pen or
pencil with reasonable confidence, why not have a go at the competition.
Your idea is what is important;
The prize is a unique personally autographed print of one of Gerry
McGovern's styling drawings for the MGF, which would be quite something
to own for any MG nut. The details of the competition are:
- the design can be for any type of car - open sports, coupe, sports
saloon (sedan), 4x4 even
- main drawing should be a 3/4 colour view on "A3" (Euro size) paper -
thats about 16.5 x 12 inches
- there should be a supporting sketch of the interior
- a 500 word (maximum) description of why your design works as an MG
Address is:

Closing date is January 30 1998, so instead of eating too much Christmas
dinner (oh no! not leftover turkey sandwiches again!?) why not get those
colour crayons out and let us know your innermost new MG cravings. I
know that Philip is particularly keen to get some entries in from North
America, because of the historic importance of that market for MG in the
past.
So - get scribbling!
