German prices seem to be a bit higher than the Dutch ones. A standard middle
amount for a
chrome bumpered B would be $8000 to $10.000. However, rubber is cheaper. I saw
two good
cars, '76 and '78, both with overdrive and one with wires, at an MG specialist
(trade!) for $6.200
and $7.400 last year.
I don't exactly know what the import duties and VAT are, but if your friend
wants to know I can
make a few calls. Have him mail me if he needs help. I bought my 74B freshly
imported from
California, I'll check if I can find anything in the paperwork. Of course, the
guy that imported the
thing stated the value ridiculously low to keep the duties down.
BTW, the Saturday edition of largest Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf is full of
classic car
classifieds, including lots for MG's. The rag should be for sale in the area of
Heidelberg, or ask
your Dutch military collegues. (I hate to tell you this. I work for a competing
newspaper group).
