While what you say is true, using an LBC as a daily driver is (IMHO) well
worth
the inconveniences (at least here where we don't have snow or salt on the
roads).

In fact, driving the spridget has saved my bacon twice now. I live on the
outskirts
of Melbourne at Christmas Hills. It is very scenic, hilly and full of windy
roads. On one
of these windy (dirt) roads, a gas tanker (LPG for domestic household use)
came
barrelling around a corner taking up 80% of the road. Since the sprite is
nimble and
narrow, I managed to go off the side of the road avoiding the trees and the
truck and
got back on the road just before an embankment. If I had been driving a
normal sedan
(like our Rover SD1) I *would* have either hit the truck or a tree - no
question. Since
I was taking our 6 y.o. son to school at the time, it could have been very
tragic....

With good brakes and suspension in good repair, the spridget has good
primary safety
(i.e. avoiding accidents). I agree that if you do have a serious accident
you could be toast....
