You are right John. My first choice for a project car was an early
model Ford Mustang. There used to be a time when one could have had a
basic model with small v8 for loose change. Now if I can find a rusted,
burnt out specimen sitting on cinder blocks for less then several grands
is a miracle. Seems this is destined to happen with any car which
suddenly picks up in popularity. It all comes down business marketing
and I think classic car dealers are behind this inflation scheme. But
then it is up to us if we want to play the game. So that's why I
switched to MGs while it's not too late. $10,000 for an MG doesn't look
too bad after I've seen some $50,000plus price tags on "used" Mustangs.
Heck for that kind of cash I am gonna have a new 'vette or or a Lotus
Elise.
