Hi Rick (and list)
I bought my 74 BGT exactly one year ago this week. I paid $1700 for it
-
the paint left a little to be desired but it had no rust. There was
about 82,000 miles on the speedo. Engine was supposedly rebuilt at some
point in its life. I had to replace the tyres, new master cylinder, new
brakes all around (the brakes and brake cylinders came with the car).
new slave cylinder and had to put a new clutch in about a month after
buying the car. I have driven the car daily ever since buying it and it
has not given me any trouble except for the clutch replacement. I did
have the car painted this summer (see my web page for pics of the paint
process - <http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/9945>. An MG can be a
very dependable car as you can see. For what I have into it I guess I
could have bought a banged up used american/japanese car but hell who
looks at one of those driving down the road! I get lots of smiles and
flashing lights everywhere I go with the car. As for the car you are
looking at I would venture to say the value is probably around $2,000 to
$3,000. But Ive seen cars go for a lot less and a lot more. Just get the
best you can afford.
