Adrian,
I had a similar issue, with fairly minor damage to my MG,
after having it moved. I just went all over the place getting
quotes from these fancy 'European' body shops who fix
Mercedes etc. One even quoted for putting clear coat on
the front valence (scoop thing under the front bumper).
I sent in the largest quote and they knocked it down a fair
bit, but still came out much higher than the job would cost
at a reasonable body shop.
They sent me a check so it was up to me where to go, so
forget about whether you will ultimately use the place,
just go for the big bucks.
Anyway I'm not sure if that helps,
Good luck,
Alan

Ahoy Shipmates,
Poor old Binky got rammed by a big pick up truck. The front
fender needs replacing, etc.
To cut a long story short, the other driver's insurance company
will not pick up the full tab because they claim the shop I took
it to will charge more than the normal hourly rate. (It is a
British only shop) I had taken it to two other body shops but
they declined to work on it ("it's not on the computer" and "we
don't know what we would be getting into").
Should I quit moaning and pay up ($90) or fight back? The irksome
thing is that the other driver was 100% at fault.
Regards, Adrian
